Local Texan brings complex risk expertise to Fort Worth

Michael Moore helps Fort Worth businesses understand insurance intricacies

Michael MooreFORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 10, 2019 –Michael Moore, an eighth generation Texan and risk management expert, joins Lockton as president of the Fort Worth office, to bring robust insurance resources to the Fort Worth and neighboring business communities. New businesses are opening their doors in Fort Worth, thanks to more professionals desiring to live in the surrounding areas, and Moore’s ability to provide organizations with strategic risk management consultation can help those businesses flourish.

“Fort Worth may be the 15th largest city in the United States, but it still has a small town feel where a handshake means something,” said Bob Bobo, chief operating officer of the Lockton Texas property and casualty operation. “Michael understands that in a global economy, Texas businesses want to play from home, which is why he is bringing Lockton resources to the Fort Worth community.”

The business-friendly community and affordability has played a role in the growth for North Texas. Both Denton and Tarrant counties were among the top 10 largest-gaining counties between 2016 and 2017. Tarrant county’s population grew by 1.6 percent, while Denton’s grew by 3.5 percent and with that domestic migration comes opportunity and a larger talent pool for businesses.

Moore understands the excitement, anxiety and risks of running a business thanks to his more than 13 years of advising clients on risk management and from helping his family with production on their own land. He is a descendent to Carl Hilmar Guenther, founder of C.H. Guenther & Son, a flour mill that, until being sold last year, was the oldest continually operating milling company in the US and one of the oldest family owned businesses in Texas. Moore can also trace his family line to Thomas Barnett, one of the original 300 settlers that came to Texas with Steven F. Austin in 1825 and signed the Texas Declaration of Independence.

“I have serious Texas pride when it comes to owning land and running a business and I implement that in my desire to work hard for clients,” Moore said.

Before joining Lockton, Moore spent nearly nine years building the property and casualty division for a local, family owned full service insurance agency. There he honed his expertise in oil and gas, manufacturing, wholesale distribution and real estate. With Fort Worth being one of the hottest housing markets in the United States, businesses turn to Moore for his vast subject matter expertise and familiarity with the local Fort Worth community.

His Fort Worth roots can be seen on the federal courthouse in downtown which is named after his grandfather-in-law, Judge Eldon Mahon. In 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson appointed Mahon as the U.S Attorney for the Northern District of Texas and in 1972, Mahon was appointed US District Judge for the Northern District of Texas by President Richard M. Nixon where he served for more than 30 years.

“Fort Worth is the biggest small town in the country,” said Ryan Hyman, vice president and risk management consultant in the Fort Worth office. “Michael has a vast network within the community that will help us as we continue to recruit top talent and grow the Fort Worth office.”

As a Texas native and industry expert, Moore knows that clients are looking for solutions that work for their operations. For him that means having strong relationships, asking questions and listening to the answer, and delivering on his word to give clients peace of mind. Moore brings this approach to Fort Worth with the backing of Lockton, a $1.57 billion company that has more than 7,000 Associates across the globe.

“The sky is the limit when you have the resources and backing that Lockton brings,” Moore said. “They have built relationships and set themselves up for success in the marketplace.”

Moore also gives back to the Fort Worth community. He has partnered with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and more recently, helped with fundraising efforts for the Dream Park of Fort Worth, a 57,000 square-foot green and play space for all children. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and spends much of his time outdoors with his wife Shannon and two daughters.

Lockton’s Fort Worth office is located at 777 Main Street, Fort Worth, TX, 76102 and can be reached by calling 817-334-7300.
