Giblin promoted to president of Lockton’s San Diego operations

Longtime brokerage leader Jim Skeen to continue in client and community leadership roles

Sallie GiblinSAN DIEGO, Calif., June 18, 2018 – Lockton, the world’s largest privately held, independent insurance broker, has named Sallie Giblin president of its San Diego operations. Giblin will lead a team of property-casualty insurance and employee benefits experts who serve commercial clients nationally and globally.

Giblin succeeds Jim Skeen, the founding president of Lockton’s San Diego office, who will continue to serve on the Pacific operation’s executive committee, focus on client service and hold the title of founder.

“Sallie is a dynamic leader and client advisor,” says Tim Noonan, CEO of Lockton’s Pacific operations. “She has earned the trust of clients and Associates alike, and will allow Lockton to continue building on the foundation that Jim Skeen and the team have built during the past 16 years in San Diego.”

Giblin has been with Lockton for 12 years in a client leadership role, most recently as executive vice president. She will continue her client and business development responsibilities as president of the San Diego office. Giblin is active in the San Diego human resources community, helping start the San Diego HR Forum to share best practices and foster professional development.

She has been widely recognized for her accomplishments in the insurance industry. Business Insurance has named her one of its “Women to Watch,” Employee Benefit Advisor recognized her among the Most Influential Women in Benefit Advising, and Risk & Insurance named her an Employee Benefits Power Broker. She has previously worked with other brokers including USI and Barney & Barney, now owned by Marsh.

“I’m passionate about my husband, my kids and my clients,” says Giblin. “In this expanded role, I’ll be focused on connecting more people, building stronger relationships and helping our clients’ businesses thrive. With our high-performance culture and private ownership, we are well positioned to double in size in the next five years.”

Giblin draws inspiration from her father Bill Wade, a longtime San Diego CPA, who showed her how to serve clients when she started working at his firm at age 12. “Dad gave me a copy of “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” and I took it to heart, especially the idea of seeking first to understand, then to be understood.”

Skeen joined Lockton to start its San Diego operations in 2002. The team now includes more than 75 Associates who serve 300 companies.

In addition to his duties at Lockton, Jim was a founding board member of CommNexus (now EvoNexus) as well as the Cyber Center of Excellence and works closely with the FBI educating businesses on cyber risk. He is a member of the San Diego CISO Roundtable and executive mentor to The Honor Foundation which serves members of US Special Operations Forces in transition.

“Jim has been a stalwart leader in building our business and reputation in San Diego,” says Noonan. “He will continue to be a linchpin in supporting our clients and leading in the community. We look forward to his continued service in our San Diego office.”

Skeen adds, “Lockton Associates are our greatest assets. The San Diego office is well positioned for continued growth by providing superior client service, as well as a great place to launch and build careers. While proud of our past accomplishments, what really excites me is the future. Sallie is exactly the right person at the right time to lead our office.”
