Sexual harassment in corporate America

New reports of sexual harassment are coming to the forefront due to movements like #MeToo and #TimesUp. Companies are taking a closer look since it can impact their bottom line.

“It affects everybody,” said Marie-France Gelot, senior vice president and insurance & claims counsel for Lockton’s Northeast Claims Advisory Group.

Gerlot writes in her white paper “Sexual Harassment: Is Your Company Exposed?” that employers need to look at sexual harassment as a risk since it presents clear and present dangers to a company’s public image, goodwill and brand. Risk & Insurance interviewed Gerlot on how risk management and human resources departments are often siloed within organizations. The disconnect between the departments can lead to business risk having to do with sexual harassment.
