Next Stop: National Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse for Safer Highways
Hero Image

Moving 9.2 billion tons of freight annually requires nearly three million heavy-duty Class 8 trucks and more than three million truck drivers. A new rule from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is designed to make this industry and our highways safer.

The FMCSA published its final rule on December 2, 2016, establishing a national drug and alcohol clearinghouse for commercial truck and bus drivers. This database will provide motor carriers access to drivers’ DOT drug and alcohol testing history, allowing them to keep prohibited drivers off the road.
