Employment practice liability claim trends

Coincidentally, the end of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's fiscal year coincided with one year mark of the #MeToo movement that began with the first reports of Harvey Weinstein's alleged sexual harassment. The EEOC recognized the heightened awareness of sexual harassment claims by taking the unprecedented step of prereleasing charge statistics and announcing a 12% year-over-year increase for such claims. While that increase is notable and halted a five-year decline, the overall numbers are not unprecedented.
