DOL Issues Hurricane Guidance, Rethinks Disability Claim Regs; IRS Auditing PCORI Filings

The US Department of Labor has issued broad-based general guidance intended to protect employee benefit plan participants (and their employer plan sponsors) related to reporting, disclosure and even plan-imposed deadlines in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. In addition, the Department is rethinking its recent changes to disability plan claim rules, and the IRS is now actively auditing self-insured employers' annual Form 720 filings related to the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) fee.
