Compliance Attorney Comments on ACA Reporting Deadlines

In an article for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Lockton Benefit Group’s Scott Behrens, Vice President and ERISA Compliance Attorney, shares guidance for employers on ACA reporting.

Despite last week’s IRS reprieve for employers hustling to prepare and distribute 2016 Forms 1095-C to employees, there is no delay, for the moment, in the deadline to file the Forms with the IRS.

Behrens advises employers to prepare for these deadlines, despite President-elect Donald Trump’s promise to repeal and replace the ACA.

“The ACA is still the law of the land," said Behrens. "Prudent employers will want to continue to comply with the ACA, including the play-or-pay mandate and reporting requirements until formal guidance relieves them of those compliance obligations."
