Guild Mortgage was quickly outgrowing its fully insured employee benefits plan that had been established years before. With an employee population quickly approaching 2,000, leadership was interested in evaluating a self-funded approach – a challenge due to its headquarters located in San Diego and high number of HMO enrollees. Also important to the organization was the selection and implementation of an entirely new human resources information system (HRIS). Guild needed a partner that was well versed in creating effective benefits strategies and managing the technology to support it, and Lockton had all the expertise necessary.

A New Plan from the Ground Up

Lockton outlined its ability to support the new benefits strategy from every angle. This included creating an entirely new self-funded benefits program, setting up an employee call center, and also offering significant project management support from Lockton’s HR Technology & Outsourcing Practice for the new HRIS implementation. Together, Lockton and Guild worked fast and smart to ensure a successful implementation.

In the end, with Lockton’s guidance, Guild was able to offer a comprehensive benefits package while effectively managing costs for the company and the employees. Employees valued the flexibility and greater selection of plans offered. Plus Guild experienced a successful and timely implementation of the new HRIS platform. Nearly 18 months since the rollout, Guild has saved more than 11 percent on its benefits spend compared to anticipated renewal costs.
