Generation Y is moving in, are you ready? Coming along with the group is a new batch of tendencies such as constantly updating their Facebook status and needing urgent feedback. According to a story in Leader’s Edge, it is not all bad. The generation is bringing in one thing that the insurance industry needs: fresh legs.
Glenn Spencer, US Chief Operating Officer at Lockton, describes why this generation is so vital for Lockton’s growth. One fifth of the 2,700 U.S. employees at Lockton are due to retire in the next 15 years. Spencer says that replacing that generation is “one of the two or three critical challenges” Lockton faces over the next decade. “We have to,” Spencer says. “If we can’t bring younger people into our company and get them up to speed and effective, we’re not going to be able to serve our clients.
