He has also overseen the development of Lockton’s professional expertise by growing Lockton Financial Services (LFS), the Global Property Practice, Mergers & Acquisition Practice (Private Equity and Corporate Acquisition Practice) and its Employee Benefit Consulting operation.
David also led the firm’s global expansion with the acquisition in 2006 of London-based Alexander Forbes International Risk Services, providing Lockton’s clients with a global platform.
Lockton’s Chairman remains committed to the philosophies that have guided the firm from the start, and personally remains involved in working with his clients and growing the business as a Producer.
David is active in civic and community affairs in Kansas City, as is the firm. Lockton contributes more than $3 million annually to various non-profit organizations across the U.S. and Associates are encouraged to give their time as well. The United Way has been Lockton’s flagship charity for nearly 40 years, and in 2007 Lockton Associates gave more than $900,000 to United Way in the U.S.
David also pushes himself physically. After the Mid-America Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society presented him with its Hope Award, he promised to ride a bike in Bike MS, the 150-mile, two-day ride from Kansas City. Despite a momentary spill, David completed the ride along with Lockton’s 82 other riders. Also in 2007, the National MS Society named Lockton Companies its National Employer of the Year.
He also serves on several civic boards and has held several leadership roles:
David graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in business finance. He and his wife Mary are the parents of a son and daughter and have two grandchildren. He is an avid golfer, outdoorsman and photographer.
